Finished this I would say last week and I'm ABSOLUTELY proud of this. "Angelic Waters" is looking for a home and she would look gorgeous with other angels or just by herself as a focal point. I'll have some info on how I went about the painting process.

Doing this on Canson XL Mixed Media paper (its considered "cheap" - but when you're an artist, you use whatever works, can afford and what you can get your hands on!) This is "the Darkest Angel" (sounds like something from Doctor Who!) I've decided that quick and easy, MUST get it OUT of my head on paper I will put down on "cheap" paper whereas something that is not so much an easy piece for me, requires more work, etc. will be on "good" paper. Plus, the stuff I've been kicking out is a simple image figure. So far. Not to say that I will always be doing that. Just something to keep the ol' creative juices flowing. Plus this paper is allowing me to play with colored pencils and pastels on it and seems more forgiving that high quality plain ol' watercolor paper. Or I could be fooling myself in thinking so. Either way, "Tempus Fugit" and "the Darkest Angel" will be rather affordable to own ($15.00 + s&h)...so, I'm working on making my art price wise accessible to everyone! More to come on this as I work on it!

Done! Utterly and completely! I'm soooo happy with it! The background took me 3.5 hours to get JUST right. This is my second time doing a sunset background with very washed, layered watercolors. Lots of blotting, lots of water, lots of soft watercolors, layers and layers, blot, repeat, etc.

I apologize this is a crapola image. It doesn't do the real one justice in real life, trust me. I had to do some serious tweaking in Photoshop to have it look remotely CLOSE to what it is in real life (98% there) but, when the sun is out, I'll be able to take a better digi image and less fiddling-sticking in the Photoshop for correction.

The next angel will be a real test of strength for me...as it will have a cat, not a wee typical fluff ball house cat in it, but a tiger. Yep. Going for gusto on the next one. I have it ALL laid out in my head. This weekend, from head to paper and figuring out the line work, etc. Its called "the Guardian". And I think I will do, 2 - maybe 4 more angels (depending on my mode of sanity vs. insanity) before I move on to a theme my hubby holds dear to his heart, coffee. But that's later down the road. For now, enjoy "Messengers". And at present, not for sale. All done in watercolor on Arches cold pressed watercolor paper, art reference from the wonderful Lockstock @ Deviant Art.

Just this....its a condensed version...doesn't show as much of the sky...but you can see the background...2.5 - 3 hours doing the cloudy washed sunset and now, doing the angel part! More to come...sorry for the crap images, but the below gives you sort of a follow through of progress...

The clouds are much more subdued in color than what the image shows...really hard to get something EXACT via photoshop from digital photography. But gives you the idea!

YEP! From pre-sketch idea, to sketch/refining to final sketch. Now all I just have to do is lay it out on good watercolor paper and re-do the line work and slap watercolor on it!! Will share an image of the wip tomorrow...buku tired. Feel like someone ran me over with a truck!

Frustrated with art

Just feel like I want to bang my head on the table. Nothing so far is coming out the way I want it to...this wip

Well, after letting it be for a few days, I realized what was bugging me. For one thing, the white butterflies throw it off. Now, you might think I'm being harsh and critical, typical reaction for an artist, BUT when I did the butterflies initial on paper, something was like "idunnoaboutthem" and it stuck...I made the butterflies less and it still stuck. Was thinking I will paint them white and no. No. Nonononono. No. Er. The foliage. Its my bane. But like hands, still working at it. Having examined Stephanie Law's work and a few other artists (Acorncupcake and Kuoma) I know within I CAN do better (almost typed "butter") and make it look like foliage. The glass I would like to look more like stained glass. The figure, not so much. She was to look like a 'memory' - something ethereal and of a ghostly visage...need to use smaller tip of masking fluid to get NIIIIIIIIIICEEEE neat lines. And my hubby was right. THERE! I have announced to the world via this blog and the world wide web, it needs a fox or something animal like. Because I look at it from a viewing perspective and I wonder..."What IS she looking at?" The ground? The mushrooms? So, a fox or two will pull the action of the viewer to the "memory" in tighter focus. And maybe just a few butterflies around the "memory" - which are a distraction from my beautiful and FIRST (ta-da!) sunset! (I looked at alot of sunsets trying to figure out color and clouds, etc.) I have LEARNED to do the sunset - aka - the VERY background first!!!

Sooo, I've learned from this. Going to step away from it and focus on some other projects that are "screaming!!!!" at me...I think I will do the coffee theme first. Hubby will be sooo happy! Yeah...coffee coffee coffee...I might as well paint a mocha fairy for myself while I'm at it...only cup of joe I have...decaf, skim w/ whip. And that is like ONCE in a blue moon. The themes of coffee are, goddess, dryad, morning cup and two coffee derived fairies.

And on a COMPLETELY different note, my "boo-kins" are haunting me. Its not EVEN October and already the ideas are flowing in. Maybe I will deal with THEM come April, May, June time period. Or I might just do one to get it out of my system. But yeah, Halloween is my fav(!!!) occasion.

Well...time to sip tea and relax...

"Crimson Wings"

Finished! Well, I had this piece done a couple of days ago, but my camera battery died so, I had to hunt down the recharger to recharge the battery. I figured I would scan it...and that was a disaster. One part of the image was darker than the other, so I pulled out my camera with fully charged battery and ZAP!

My FIRST Enchanted Visions theme done early and on time! I can hear Cori passing out with a resounding "thud" as she hits the floor. I'm typically late & behind the power curve when it comes to themes that interest me...but hey, I'm in a very creative state and its hard to keep track of e v e r y t h i n g!

This original 12.50 (just a wee cm over) x 9 inches is available at $150.00 (s/h is free) and payment plan is available (via check or Paypal). Image comes with a note from me and a letter of authenticity as well. The image will be free of watermarks - this is merely to discourage digital art thieves. "Crimson Wings" is the November theme from Enchanted Visions and this is my take on it. Hand painted in watercolor, gouache and colored pencils. As you can see some iridescent and shimmer on the image, I have "sparkly" watercolors that I used to enhance the picture. Prints will eventually be made available at my Zazzle store.

Please enjoy...I'm sooooooooooooo happy with this one! Simply because I'm AHEAD of the ballgame - for now! XD
